Welcome to the new and improved website for the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Northwestern University (NU)! We are very excited to be launching this new site and hope that you find the information contained on our various pages useful, informative, and educational.
Each NU student brings a particular set of personal, social, and/or developmental needs and circumstances to the university community. From time to time, students may experience emotional and psychological barriers that interfere with their ability to successfully achieve their academic and personal goals. Counseling services are designed to assist students, mainly through individual and small group interventions, in overcoming obstacles and in achieving their goals. Housed within the Division of Student Affairs and with offices on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses, CAPS serves as the primary mental health service in aiding students in overcoming their developmental, emotional, and/or psychological hurdles. CAPS provides a set of core services, including clinical services, psycho-educational programming, and consultation/collaboration with faculty and staff. Our services address the psychological and developmental needs of students in order to help them thrive individually and in their relations with others. Furthermore, CAPS provides these services in a manner that is appreciative of the individual within a diverse and multicultural context. CAPS also seeks to support the educational mission of the university through its training program, which continues to enhance and promote the profession of psychology.
CAPS is staffed by a variety of dedicated professionals devoted to providing the highest quality mental health care and service to the Northwestern University community. Feel free to access the link on our site for the CAPS staff in order to get to know a little bit about them. Visit our FAQ if you have more questions.
Thanks Again for Visiting our Website!
